Guest Designer - Berry71Bleu

I'm honored to be a guest designer at Berry71Bleu! I really enjoyed designing projects with their unique vintage tags. I love that romantic old style look and I had so much fun matching it with other products and photos.

My first project is a layout with an old photo of my grandfather holding my mom and my aunt. I used Berry71Bleu beautiful tag with extra matching embellishments. I layered papers, painted a little white paint over the top layer and added lace, flowers and buttons. All with a vintage look and feel.

My second project is a romantic frame with hints of pink (can you believe it?) and a wonderful Berry71Bleu tag.

I added color and texture to the frame with some paint, mists and stamps. I created the "LOVE" title with chipboard letters as a mask and I misted them. I added rub-ons, lace, flowers and buttons to complete the romantic shabby chic look.

Boo!

Happy Purim friends! We are celebrating the Jewish holiday of Purim. The happiest holiday of the year, when we ware costumes, have parties and generally celebrate life!!
Here's a digital layout I created with a photo of my pirate son.

For those of you who don't know what Purim is, here s the short version: The story of Purim is told in the Biblical book of Esther. The heroes of the story are Esther, a beautiful young Jewish woman living in Persia, and her cousin Mordecai. Esther was taken to the house of Ahasuerus, King of Persia, to become part of his harem. King Ahasuerus loved Esther more than his other women and made Esther queen. The king did not know that Esther was a Jew, because Mordecai told her not to reveal her identity. The villain of the story is Haman, who hated Mordecai because Mordecai refused to bow down to him, so Haman plotted to destroy the Jewish people. The king gave the fate of the Jewish people to Haman, to do as he pleased to them. Mordecai persuaded Esther to speak to the king on behalf of the Jewish people. She told the king of Haman's plot against her people and he overturned Haman's verdict. The Jewish people were saved, and Haman was hanged on the gallows that had been prepared for Mordecai.

The word "Purim" means "lots" and refers to the lottery that Haman used to choose the date for the Jews' massacre. It is customary to wear costumes and hold carnival-like celebrations. We are commanded to read the book of Esther as well as eat, drink and be merry. In addition, we are commanded to send out gifts of food or drink, and to make gifts to charity.

Here's a part of a children's pop-up book I created for my kids with photos of the same costume.

Be You Canvas

Hi dear friends! Here's my new DT project for Susan Weckesser. An inspirational canvas with a message.

This canvas is all about inspiring you to be yourselves and to live life in full, that means in color! Don't hide in the darkness of your troubles or thoughts, embrace color and light up your life!

I had a lot of fun creating this canvas. I started with some tissue papers, Gesso and a lot of misting. Then I added some stamps and texture.

I stamped three images ans created a "process" of transformation by adding more details to each image. With the details on the images came details and colors on the background. The title also starts kind of bland but has a colorful finish.

Maximize you supplies - layout for less than 5$

I challenged myself to create a layout with as little products as possible. Meaning, to use as few pieces of papers, rub ons etc. I think I managed to create a cute layout under 5$!! it's less than acup of coffee!

Here are the tips to create it:
1. Use double sided cardstock. You can use one piece for each side. In this layout I used two pieces of card stock (other than the background paper) - The hearts on one side and the stripes on the other, and the yellow suns with the cream color on the other side.

2. Use the pattern on the paper for embellishments. I cut out hearts from the paper and added them to the layout. I used different sizes as well as them in different heights with 3D adhesive.
3. Add leftover embellishments. I always have left over embellishments such as rub-ons, letters or tags, you know, those lonely pieces that are left after you used everything else on that set. Gather all those lonely pieces and see what goes with what. You'll be surprised that different sets of embellishments sometimes go really well together. This way you get rid of those annoying leftovers! I matched different black rub-ons from different sets and companies.

4. Add pieces of ribbon. There is a misconception that there is nothing to do with small pieces of ribbon.Well...that's not true! I took a little piece folded it into half and added it as an embellishment.
5. Create your own embellishments. Use a pen to add a funky frame or other doodling or drawing.

Zippers...more than you thought

The hottest trend these days is mixed media. It's basically a form of creation that combines different medias in one creation. The fun thing about it is that anyone can give it their own interpretation, meaning mix the materials they like. Here's a mixed media layout mixing scrapbooking papers and sewing zippers.

I rarely create a layout about myself but this one seemed appropriate. This layout was created before zippers were in fashion and you could find zippers heads with printed words on them. I got them from a sewing store one day and decided to finally use them.

I created the flowers by twisting the zipper in a spiral and adhering it with hot glue. The leafs were also created from zippers.

It's the little things...

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and you can already feel love is in the air! I know pink is a traditional valentine's color even though it's my least favorite color (other than yellow) I decided to challenge myself.

I matched the grey with the pink, to tone it down a little bit and also added a white tulle to soften it some more.

All the different parts in this card were cut with Spellbinders die cuts and embossed with Cuttlebug embossing dies. I almost forgot how much fun that is!

DCC - Handmade with LOVE

Hi crafters! It's the first Monday of the month and we are hopping again with all my Designer Craft Connection friends!

This time I created a mini album that is not only created with love but is all about love.

This cute little mini is all about pockets and hidden treasures. Each page is actually a pocket that hides a tag inside. A tag for secret loving messages or any other message you want to write.

For more amazing projects, just click on the DCC button on the right hand side of my blog.

Love will break through!

Have you ever felt like you're in a "box", creatively, physically or mentally? It happens to all of us. But there is one thing, one thing that always helps. One thing that helps, one thing that will always break through...LOVE!
LOVE WILL ALWAYS BREAKS THROUGH!

I created this project for a rainy day. A fun, cheerful and uplifting message to put on my desk as a reminder of the amazing power of love!

I took an empty plastic container and created a little scene inside. I stamped my favorite house stamp, cut it and adhered it to the bottom. I added a cloud and flowers. Then I cut a little slit on the side of the container and inserted a piece of cardstock with LOVE stamped on it. I also inserted a kite through another slit. I added a title and a little bling.

Try creating an inspiring project for yourselves, a project that would lift up your spirits and put a smile on my face!
