A long time ago

I recently found some old photos of me as a child and it made me really nostalgic. I decided to create layouts for them and then bind them into an album. This is a layout with a photo of me and my mom when I was tree years old.

I started the layout with a little dripage, stamping and spraying a Prima patterned paper. Then I cut flowers from the One-Up patterned paper from the Doodle Duex collection by Prima which I love and added them to the layout.

I cut the leaf shapes from the same collection's ribbon and also added one large flower. I added the title and the layout was done. Now I have to do the other layouts....

Guest Designer - My Stamp Box

I was honored and excited when My Stamp Box asked me to play with their stamps. I got an adorable set of butterflies all arranged in a comfortable plastic box and ready to play with. I created a few projects using these butterflies and had a great time letting them fly...

I started with a layout (obviously) that has all kinds of butterflies on it. I stamped the background patterned paper with watermark and distress ink so I got two shades of images. Then I stamped some more images on cardstock, cut them and added them to the layout with 3D tape to give them dimension.

My next project was a tag with some cool stamping techniques. I inked the tag with several colors of distress ink and then stamped the butterflies. Then I stamped two images with distress ink and put some perfect pearls on it. I hit set it to get a sparkly shiny look. I also added cut out butterflies, ribbons and a sentiment.
Thank you My Stamp Box..it was a blast!

This shoe is made for walking....

Well...maybe not exactly for walking but definitely for altering! I got this cute turquoise shoe adhesive dispenser at the Scotch booth at the winter CHA and I knew immediately I'm going to alter it! It took awhile but I finally did it!

I first covered the shoe with a transparent tape to give the shoe a little pattern and then I added all kinds of Prima embellishments such as flowers and resin window.

I also added the word SHOES on a tag I've attached to the shoe and completed the title on a strip of paper on the bottom of the shoe.

It was such a fun crazy project to do...you should try it!

Technique Corner: What do you need to make a great layout?

What do you think is needed to create a great layout? Lots of fancy embellishments, many new and cutting edge techniques or maybe expensive materials? I've asked my self that question and the answer surprised me...you actually need very little of those embellishments, techniques or materials. You can create a fabulous layout with paper, ink, gesso and mask!

This layout is paper based with a simple easy technique. I started the layout with a circles mask gesso and a little distress ink. I first used the gesso and then the ink to create a continuation in the pattern of the circles. I hit set it to dry the gesso and then puffed some of the gesso with the hit gun.

I then layered paper and paper tags to create dimension as well as different fussy cutting shapes.

Finally I created different sizes of paper flowers and gave them a little more dimension with small touches of gesso around the edges.

Try to challenge yourself to create a layout with nothing but paper and a simple technique and see what your creativity can create!

Scrap your jewelry

DT project {Spellbinders International Blog Ambassadors}
I'm usually not a jewelry person. I love all things paper and I always thought jewelry was not my thing. I thought so...but I guess I was wrong, because when I saw these beautiful Spellbinders bezels I just couldn't resist. I created a three part pendant filled with vintage treasures.

I started with spreading a little glitter inside the bottom triangle and then attached a piece of an old vintage jewelry on top of it.

In the middle part I put a metal flower and embellished it with pearls.
The upper small circle was filled with small metal beads and adhered on a large metal flower.

All the bezels were filled with ice resin I also embellished the necklace itself with a few beads and buttons.

Ins(paper)ation: Home of inspiration

DT project {Susan K. Weckesser}
One of my favorite Susan weckesser's stamps is this cute adorable house (LOVE stamp). So I decided to use this stamp and create a project that can be an inspiration for yo all.

I started with stamping the house on different Susan Weckesser's patterned papers and cutting the parts of the house like the window, door or roof. Then I played around with the parts so each house got a different color of window, roof or door.
I embellished the houses to fit the sentence I wanted to add.
"The house does not rest on the ground it rests on a mother": I stamped the Motherhood is a verb stamp and cutout the image. I added lace, some cut flowers and the sentence.
" Fill a home with love and it will fill your life with color": I added some colorful buttons on the house's roof and added the sentence.

"Home is where the heart is": I cut hearts in different sizes and shapes and adhered them on the roof. I added the sentence replacing the word heart with a shaped heart.
"Home is an inspiration for memories": I embellished the house with parts of clocks which to me represent time and memories. I added the sentence and wrote the word memories in a circle shape to compliment the clocks' shapes.

These four cute houses can be a mini album, a banner or even be placed on a frame. You can keep on creating houses and add more inspiration!

Key to my heart

I had the pleasure of meeting the fabulous Limor Webber and see her in action! As a designer and teacher my self I always enjoy and appreciate being inspired by a fellow scrapper. Here's my interpratation to a layout created by Limor.

I used Prima's beautiful papers, metal embellishments, flowers and little trinkets from my treasure box. I especially love the metal keys I added (thanks dear Ola) to compliment the layout's title.

This layout has it all...a lot of layers, hidden surprises and many techniques: distressing, inking, fine cutting, stamping and taring. I also used techniques such as adding gesso accents and embossing the metal with the great Lindy's Stamp Gang two tone embossing powder.
